The NYT has another article about Mystery’s new show “The Pickup Artist”. It’s from a few weeks ago but I just found it today.
Nothing shocking or revoluntionary, but the author closes with something that got me thinking.
“The Pick-Up Artist” is intriguing — far more intriguing than its tawdry subject might suggest. Mr. Strauss’s thoughtful book showed how sophisticated Mystery’s experiment actually was: What if modern men could be taught the art of swashbuckling Byronic seduction and thereby be saved from the depression and loneliness induced by therapy culture?
BAM! The author hits the nail on the head. This is why I love my job, and it’s what people don’t understand about MM. MM isn’t about magic bullets (despite the title of our book), or fancy quick-fixes. We’re not about therapy, and fixing your damaged egos. We don’t believe in meditating to get rid of your approach anxiety, or fixing your inner game. We believe in get the f**k out there and do it!
So how do you cure approach anxiety? You get off your ass and talk to girls until you realize you’re scared of NOTHING.
So how do you get good inner game? You get off your ass and talk to girls and realize that they like you. Nothing boosts your confidence like having girls laughing at your jokes, complimenting you, and doing crazy stupid things to get you into bed.
Now if you’ll excuse me, it’s Saturday night, and I’m heading out to push myself (I’ve been lazy recently).
Now it’s your turn- get the f**k out there!
